My mom watched the kids today while I went to an appointment. When I got to her house to pick the kids up, Jax could not wait to show me what he had found. He picked up a jar and grinned and said "look mom" in this jar was a beetle. Only a little boy would think this was the coolest thing ever. My mom then informed me that we were free to take our little beetle home with us (thanks mom) this of course made Jaxson's grin even bigger. We took the beetle home and as soon as we got out of the car Jax dropped the jar, of course this shattered all over the garage floor. Jaxson wasn't too happy about this, but I was able the catch the beetle in a different cup. We took the beetle inside and Jax put it in his little bug habitat, he has been waiting to find a bug worthy of this habitat. Now, thanks to his Soma he has found one. He spent the majority of the day looking at his new little friend. Who he now affectionately calls Barty. So if in the middle of the night I feel something crawling up my leg (and I don't mean Nick) I will know who to blame. Thanks for babysitting mom, and thanks for the newest member of our family.

Little boys
Little boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails...oh ya and bugs too.

Mess maker
When getting ready to have a baby, in addition to buying diapers, wet wipes etc. might I also suggest a vaccuum cleaner? Why? Because the moment your child turns a year old he or she, in addition to the temper tantrums. Will start making messes. Yes, your perfect little angel WILL make messes! How do I know this? Because Ella has recently figured out that it is fun to drop her food on the floor. She has also perfected the "innocent" look as well. This is why I recommend having a vaccuum cleaner on hand. Today she decided that instead of eating her turkey dog, it was funner to throw the pieces on the floor. I had just got done cleaning up her breakfast mess. When I told her no she looked at me with the perfected innocent face, which made me laugh. Then when I got her out of the highchair, she decided that it was now a perfect time to eat the turkey dog. Apparently she prefers to eat off of the floor rather than her clean highchair tray. Of course I obvioulsy did not let her eat the turkey dogs off of the floor, which then resulted in a temper tantrum. She really is a picked on little princess. Might I also suggest a swiffer wet jet in addition to the vaccuum cleaner? This is of course if you can afford the swiffer, the cleaner, and the batteries it takes to make the damn thing work. However, they do come in rather handy for cleaning up "Ella" messes. Yes, I realize I have officially become a dorky house wife when I am blogging about vaccuums and mops. I have accepted the fact that my days of being cool are now over. As long as my kids think im cool, im happy.
Ouch!
Last night while Nick and I were finishing up with the garage Ella was in her umbrella stroller and Jax was pushing her in it. Nick and I had just turned our backs to put some toys back in the garage when I heard Jax start screaming and Ella start crying. Nick and I looked and her stroller had tipped over and Ella was on her face (don't worry Mom and Bonnie she is ok) this is not something a mommy wants to see. Nick and I ran over to her and Nick picked the stroller back up and I got her out as fast as I could so that I could hold her and comfort her. Meanwhile Nick ran over to Jaxson to assure him that sissy was ok, he was so upset that she was hurt!! I think he might have cried harder than Ella. Once I picked Ella up she quit crying, after I pried her little fingers from the death grip she had around me I could really look at her and make sure she was ok. Of course at this point my heart is pounding and I am shaking! I thoroughly checked every inch of her to make sure she was ok. She has two little scrapes just under her left eye and a little tiny bruise by her eyebrow (hopefully this bruise won't get bigger) I was just glad that my little girl was ok and Jax was glad that his sissy was ok. He had to keep asking us if she was ok, he was very worried about her. I gave him several hugs and told him not to worry because sis was ok, she just had a little boo boo. I think he was worried she was going to have to go to the doctor and have another shot. Im sure this wont earn me the "mother of the year" award any time soon. But as Jax and Gabe always say "accidents happen and that's OK!"

Daddy's helper
We cleaned out our garage yesterday (yes George and Bonnie, we really did) there were a bunch of big dumpsters delivered in the neighborhood yesterday so we decided to take advantage of it. Jaxson was a big helper for daddy. He was right there next to Nick all day helping him. Nick would load stuff into Jaxson's wagon and Jax would put on his "work gloves" just like daddy, and he would take the stuff over to the dumpster and throw it away. Jax loves it when he can help his daddy with stuff like that.
By the end of the day Jax started saying "how come we are working for YEARS in the garage?" this made us laugh. By this point he didn't want to help anymore, he wanted to ride in his escalade and play with his toys. There wasn't anymore fun stuff to throw into the dumpster, cleaning the garage had lost it's appeal as far as he was concerned. Actually as far as Nick and I were concerned too, but we kept going and now the garage is finally done! I had to take some pictures of Jaxson's feet, by the end of the day they were BLACK from being such a big helper all day! We had to do some serious scrubbing in the shower to get these feet clean again.

Walks
Everynight after dinner we go on a walk, the kids love to go on them and it is a good way for me to get a little bit of much needed exercise. We used to just push Ella in her stroller while Jaxson rode in his escalade but lately she has decided that it's fun to ride in the escalade with brother. It is hilarious to walk behind them and see the backs of their little heads as they drive down the sidewalk. Ella will put her head on Jaxson's arm while they are driving or put her arm around him. This always makes Nick and I laugh, it is so cute! I think this is one of the things I am going to miss the most about summer. Our walks have been such a fun thing for our little family to do.

Bathtime
Jaxson and Ella love their bathtime. Now that Ella is bigger her and Jaxson can have baths together. Jax thinks it's pretty cool to have his baby sister in the bath with him, except for the time she pooped in the bathtub. He didn't think that was funny at all! However he does think it's funny to pour water on his sisters head, must be a big brother thing. Fortunately for her she doesn't mind having water poured on her head, but when she learns how to do it back to her big brother I don't think he will find it very funny. Jax also thinks it's funny to splash water on mommy and daddy, Ella is quickly catching on to this fun trick. I don't think I ever make it through bath time with my clothes still dry. I have learned to not wear nice clothes while bathing the kiddos! I love the way they smell after bathtime, it is my favorite time to snuggle with my babies.

How does he think of these things?
We were in the car driving home from the bank today, and Jaxson said "Mom, how does the water in the ocean get salty?" Before I could even come up with an answer for him he came up with his own answer. He said "I know how da water in da ocean got salty. Someone was cooking on da beach one day and dey had a big thing of salt to cook with, and a big huge wave came up on da beach and it took da thing of salt out into da middle of da ocean. All of da salt from da salt thing poured out into da ocean and dat is how da ocean got salty mom!" This of course made me laugh! HARD! Then he said "mom, do you want to know how I know dat?" I said of course I wanted to know how he knew that. He grinned and said "because im soooo smart mom!" I said you are REALLY smart buddy! He said "yep I know mom!" That little mind of his is always working and he comes up with some of the funniest things to say!
For everyone
So I figured since I have blogged about my best friend, my sister and brother that I should probably write a little something about all of the other important people in our lives. I must apologize in advance because this blog could get rather sappy. But I don't want to leave anyone out, and we want to make sure that everyone knows how much we love them! So here goes....
To my amazing hubby for treating me like a princess (even when I don't deserve it) and for being such an incredible daddy to our two beautiful children. I love you so much!

18
My little brother Colby turned 18 on saturday. I can't believe that he is already 18! I remember the day that my parents told us that we were going to have a new brother or sister. It was Christmas Eve when they told us, and a few days before we were at temple square to see the christmas lights. My parents gave me a penny to throw in the pond and make a wish, after I threw the penny in they asked me what I wished for. I told them that I wished for a baby brother, my mom had found out that she was pregnant just a few days before but they hadn't told my sister and I yet. When they told us that she was going to have a baby I just knew it was going to be a brother. I was right of course (I usually am, just ask my husband) and I could not wait for him to get here. When he was a baby I would wake up in the mornings and go into my parents room and get Colby out of his bassinet and just hold him. I couldn't get enough of him. I don't think Colby has ever been in trouble a day in his life. Maybe he just figures that my sister and I into enough trouble and he should give my parents a break. Or maybe he really is just perfect! I don't think he has been late for anything ever in his life, no tardies NOTHING! When parent teacher confrences roll around he isn't sweating bullets like my sister and I used to because there is no reason for him to be in any trouble. Im not sure how he does it but I am so proud of him! He is such a good responsible kid and he is such a good uncle to Jaxson, Gabriel and Ella and they love their uncle "obeey"!
Happy Birthday Colby. We love you!
