Dinosaurs!

Last night we got to go to the dinosaur show at the Energy Solutions Arena! I didn't think Jaxson was actually going to make it through the day yesterday because he was so excited! We went to dinner before the show with Colby, Dani, Derek and Gabe. Derek and Dani had decided that they wanted to keep the show a surprise for Gabe and it took everything Jaxson had to not tell Gabe where we were going. He would look at Gabe and say "Gabe, da show we are going to doesn't have dinosaurs in it, and it REALLY doesn't have dragons in it." Luckily Gabe wasn't paying much attention to what Jax was saying, but Jaxson really wanted to tell Gabe!! I was a little worried how Ella would be at the show, but she just sat on my lap the whole time sometimes she would actually watch the show and other times she would sit and eat licorice, which she got all over herself and me. The boys loved the show, their eyes were huge the whole time and they were totally mesmerized by the dinosaurs. At one point the T-Rex roared and Jax jumped and then looked at me and said "Wow, dat sure was one loud roar!" When he woke up this morning he asked me when we would get to go back to the dinosaur show because he loved it so much!

So silly!

The last week or so Ella is really into sitting on the potty, she will walk into the bathroom and point at the toilet until I let her sit on it, I know, I know I shouldn't get my hopes up that she will potty train early. But after the challenges (slight understatement) we went through to get Jaxson potty trained, I just can't help it! A girl can dream, right? The other day Ella was mad that Jax was sitting on the potty and she wasn't, after several failed attempts to pull big brother off the toilet, she finally got her turn on the throne! She sat there for a few minutes and grinned at me and then decided she was done. I got her off and put her diaper back on her and before I could put her clothes back on she took off. She came walking up to me a few seconds later with Jaxson's beanie on her head, holding her coat. So I put her coat on her and she walked around in her diaper, Jaxson's hat, socks and her coat for at least 20 minutes. She knew she was being funny because she would stop and look at us and grin then start laughing at herself. What a little ham!

New Year's Eve

We decided to go up to my dad's cabin for new year's and of course when we told Jax where we were going he couldn't wait. He was so excited to see his Papa Kirk and go snowmobiling. We got up there yesterday evening and relaxed by the fire and had dinner. The kids were having fun playing and running around, I thought that maybe they would wear themselves out and I could put them to bed. This however was not the case, the only ones that were worn out were the adults! We all decided we were too tired to stay up until midnight, so we went to bed at about 11:45. What a bunch of party animals we are! Ella decided she was not going to sleep in the crib so me, Ella and Jax slept in the bed and poor Nicky had to sleep on the couch that was way too short for him. There was no way the 4 of us were going to fit on a double bed. For some strange reason Ella thought that it was play time when we layed down Nick and I were trying to get her to calm down and go to sleep which she was not the least bit interested in doing. Nick looked at the clock and it was 5 minutes after midnight, instead of the normal cheering and everything that most people do, we looked at each other, yawned gave each other a kiss and went back to trying to settle the princess down. My how new years celebration's change when you have kids! This morning we woke up and had some breakfast and then went for a snowmobile ride and Jax loved every minute of it! He wasn't too happy when it was time to come home today but we promised him we would come back to Papa's cabin soon so he could ride the snowmobile some more.

Christmas!

This could be the longest blog post ever if I tell you everything we did on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We had so much fun! On Christmas eve we hung out at our house with Nick's parents during the day, later that night we went over to my mom's house for dinner and we spent the night there. Every year on Christmas eve my mom gives all of us pajamas, she has done it since we were kids and it's one of my favorite things! We all got in our jammies and then ate dinner which was really good! Then the kids played and we all took pictures in our jammies. The next morning we woke up to find that Santa had come to Soma's house! The kids were so excited and everyone got spoiled! After we finished opening presents at my mom's house we went back to our house to open presents and have breakfast with Papa George and Grandma Bonnie. Once again the kids and Nick and I got spoiled. Bonnie made her traditional breakfast burritos which are SO GOOD! After our tummies were extremely full and all of the presents were opened we relaxed and Jax and Ella played with all of their new toys. Later that afternoon we went over to my dad's house for even more presents and some prime rib. We were all spoiled once again and the dinner was delicious. Our final stop for the day was Grandma Thomson's house. Leaving her house that night was a challenge because it was a blizzard outside! But we made it home safely and we were all exhausted by the end of the day. But it wouldn't be Christmas if you weren't so tired at the end of the day that you could barely keep your eyes open. We had such a good Christmas and we loved being able to spend time with our families. Now the challenge will be finding room for all of the kid's new toys!

What a day

Let me just start by saying that it is getting difficult to come up with a title for all of my blog posts. In the future don't be surprised if there isn't a title for the posts.

Now let me explain the title of this post. Yesterday was a hectic day to say the least. It started out great, but quickly changed. Jax woke up to find that it was snowing outside which he was very excited about. As soon as he finished his breakfast he went straight outside to play in it. He had been outside for a few minutes when the door flew open and he angrily informed me that the snow was "SPITTING INTO HIS FACE" apparently he did not like the fact that the snow was falling in his face when he laid down in it. I told him there was nothing I could do about this, and he responded by rolling his eyes and stomping off. I had just shut the door when Ella started saying MAMAMAMAMAMA as fast and as loud as she could. She didn't actually want anything, she just decided she was not getting enough attention. I gave her a toy and two seconds later the back door flew open again to a pissed off 4 year old, I asked him what was wrong and instead of actually speaking he just shoved his snow covered glove in my face and grunted. Then he was mad when I couldn't figure out what it was that he wanted. Finally he decided to speak and he told me that his glove was CROOKED!! Duh mom! I fixed the glove (which wasn't actually crooked) and he went back outside. The Martin house was a peaceful place for about 20 minutes until Ella started flipping out because the foot of her jammies was twisted, and Jax opened the door and told me he wanted to come inside. Instead of him being patient for 10 seconds while I took his snowclothes off, he came stomping into the house and got snow everywhere! I decided it was naptime for my grumpy daughter and time for Jax to sit on the couch and watch a movie so that I could attempt to get something done. Once again our house was peaceful for about an hour. Then Ella woke up and we went upstairs to clean the kids messy rooms and bathroom. Jax decided that he needed to take his new toy train upstairs with him, which was fine. Until he told me he wanted me to hold his train because he didn't want to play with it right now and he didn't want his sister to get it. I told him that as talented as I am ;) I could not hold his train and clean at the same time. I will spare you the details of what happened when I told him this, but I will tell you that it was not pretty. I decided to let him work out his tantrum on his own and go back to cleaning. I walked into Ella's room to find that she had taken all of her clothes out of her drawers. I started putting them back which she was not pleased with. Jax was still out in the hall flipping out. This day just couldn't have gotten any funner! After about 5 more minutes of duel temper tantrums they both decided to stop. AHHH!! I walked into Jaxson's room to see what he was doing and why he was suddenly singing when 10 second before he had been screaming. He looked up at me and grinned when I walked in there and in his very sweetest voive he said "Mama im makin my bed all by myself!" Oh how quickly their moods can change!! I gave him a big hug and told him I was so proud of him. It took him a while, and with a little help from mommy he made his bed all by himself!! Ella came walking into the room grinning and gave me a big kiss. I have the best job in the world.

Wish

Since we rode the polar express last weekend Jax has wanted to do nothing but watch the polar express movie, unfortunately we didn't have the movie until a few days ago. He was watching the movie yesterday and informed me that he wanted a toy train for christmas, but santa's elves have already made the toys he asked for and they are ready to be put on the sleigh, not to mention the fact that Santa doesn't have very much money :) I told him he would have to ask for the train for his birthday which is a month after christmas. He didn't like this idea at all, he pulled out the saddest pouty face he could. The next thing I know he goes out onto the deck and sits on the step, im inside watching him wondering what he was doing when a few minutes later he opens the door with an even sadder look on his face and says "Mama, I made a wish that I could have a toy train just like the Polar Express and it didn't come true." Talk about breaking a mommy's heart! I happened to be talking to my mom on the phone at this time and told her what Jax had just said. She said that she had found a toy train that she had bought to give to Jaxson last year and never did, and she thinking about giving it to him this year for his birthday. In the meantime Jax had gone back outside to make several more wishes for a toy train and each time had come in to sadly inform me that his wish was just not coming true. My mom told me that she was going to tie a bow on the train and have Colby come and leave it on the porch and ring the doorbell with a note from Santa's elves saying that they had been close by and heard his wish and decided to give him this very special toy train early.

When the doorbell rang Jax and I went to answer it, when I opened the door it took him a second to notice the train sitting on the porch with a big red bow. When he saw it his eyes lit up and I thought he was going to start crying because he was so happy. He looked at me and said "Mama my wish really did come true!!" The look on his face was so precious and he was so excited. We brought the train inside and I read him the note from the "elves" the whole time I was reading the note he had a huge grin on his face. He had to call his daddy and tell him all about what had just happened and he couldn't wait to show daddy the train when he got home from work.

I had to have a talk with Jax and explain to him that wishes dont always come true like this, and that this was a very special wish. I dont think he really listened to me because he was too excited about his train which he played with for the rest of the day!

Es bubba?

That's Ellanese for "where's my brother?" What is Ellanese? That's Ella's very own special language. This morning is was laying in bed wondering WHY on earth I was awake 45 minutes before my human alarm clocks woke me up (don't get your hopes up George, it was a fluke thing and I'm NOT going to get up early every morning) I was just listening for one of my little monkeys to wake up so that I could go get them, I was seriously bored without them to entertain me. Heaven forbid I drag my butt out of my comfy bed and do something productive before they woke up. Finally I heard Ella jabbering in her room, so I went in to get her. Instead of her being excited to see mommy she looked at me and said "es bubba?" Apparently I was not who she wanted to see. Big brother is a lot more fun than mommy, but come on! When I told her that her brother was still sleeping she decided it was her job to wake him up by saying "MAMA! MAMA! Es bubba!?!" over and over at the top of her lungs. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to get her out of her crib and take her downstairs so that she wouldn't wake him up. Fortunately Jax is like his daddy and can sleep through just about anything. When she realized this was obviously not going to wake brother up she settled for rolling around in her bed like a monkey and laughing at herself, I have to admit it was pretty funny. After about five minutes of this she decided that I was cool enough for her and reached for me to get her out then gave me a big wet kiss!
