Since we rode the polar express last weekend Jax has wanted to do nothing but watch the polar express movie, unfortunately we didn't have the movie until a few days ago. He was watching the movie yesterday and informed me that he wanted a toy train for christmas, but santa's elves have already made the toys he asked for and they are ready to be put on the sleigh, not to mention the fact that Santa doesn't have very much money :) I told him he would have to ask for the train for his birthday which is a month after christmas. He didn't like this idea at all, he pulled out the saddest pouty face he could. The next thing I know he goes out onto the deck and sits on the step, im inside watching him wondering what he was doing when a few minutes later he opens the door with an even sadder look on his face and says "Mama, I made a wish that I could have a toy train just like the Polar Express and it didn't come true." Talk about breaking a mommy's heart! I happened to be talking to my mom on the phone at this time and told her what Jax had just said. She said that she had found a toy train that she had bought to give to Jaxson last year and never did, and she thinking about giving it to him this year for his birthday. In the meantime Jax had gone back outside to make several more wishes for a toy train and each time had come in to sadly inform me that his wish was just not coming true. My mom told me that she was going to tie a bow on the train and have Colby come and leave it on the porch and ring the doorbell with a note from Santa's elves saying that they had been close by and heard his wish and decided to give him this very special toy train early.
When the doorbell rang Jax and I went to answer it, when I opened the door it took him a second to notice the train sitting on the porch with a big red bow. When he saw it his eyes lit up and I thought he was going to start crying because he was so happy. He looked at me and said "Mama my wish really did come true!!" The look on his face was so precious and he was so excited. We brought the train inside and I read him the note from the "elves" the whole time I was reading the note he had a huge grin on his face. He had to call his daddy and tell him all about what had just happened and he couldn't wait to show daddy the train when he got home from work.
I had to have a talk with Jax and explain to him that wishes dont always come true like this, and that this was a very special wish. I dont think he really listened to me because he was too excited about his train which he played with for the rest of the day!
